Learning Targets
Students will be able to:
- Explain the role of the school counselor
- Describe situations when confidentiality will be broken between school counselor and student
- Understand how/why/when to make a self-referral to the school counselor
We will also learn the below targets, with deeper learning occurring in future lessons:
- Identify the difference between teasing, a conflict, a mean moment, and bullying
- Identify what a target is
- Identify what a bully is
- Identify what a bystander is
- Identify what an upstander is
- Identify 4 types of bullying (physical, social, verbal, cyber)
- Describe what to do if they see bullying
- Describe what to do if someone is bullying them
- Identify a trusted adult to speak to if they are having strong feelings or feelings of self-harm or harming others
- Identify a trusted adult to speak to if they hear or witness someone else speak of self-harm or harming others
Kindergarten - Second

Mean Moment - Someone said or did something hurtful on purpose. It only happened ONCE. It was a reaction to a strong feeling & forgot how to handle it.
Conflict - People are arguing and feeling frustrated. There is a possible solution to the disagreement. They can handle it on their OWN.
