Want to be a Tiger Buddy at Raymore Elementary?
Raymore Elementary and Early Childhood Tiger Buddies Program
We need YOU to become a Tiger Buddy at Raymore Elementary!
Tiger Buddies - Making a difference in the life of a child, because everybody needs some "BUDDY."
A Tiger Buddy is a caring adult who wants to make a difference in the life of a child. A Tiger Buddy is someone to eat with, someone to talk to, someone to play with, someone to read to, someone to practice flash cards with, someone to write with, someone who will listen, someone to laugh with, plus much more. *Parents of students participating in this program will be notified and will be asked to provide parent permission prior to being paired with a Tiger Buddy.
We are looking for individuals who are willing and available to volunteer at least 30 - 60 minutes once a week to serve as a Tiger Buddy to a student in Pre-K - 4th grade. Just a half hour of purposeful connection and undivided attention can make a huge difference and is guaranteed to put a smile on your heart.
The goal of the program is to help students achieve success; academically, socially, and/or emotionally. Each Tiger Buddy will be paired with the same student each week, this will help provide a constant positive role model, you can even continue this positive relationship with the student into the upcoming school years. The number of student buddies you are paired with depends on the amount of hours you are willing to volunteer. If you are willing to volunteer for 30 minutes once a week, you will be paired with one student; if you are willing to volunteer 1 hour a week, you will be paired with two students, and so on. It is important to keep your commitment as often as possible as the student is looking forward to his/her time with you. For planning purposes, it is also helpful if you are able to designate the same day and time a week you are available. You can pick any time of the school day that works best for you: breakfast starts at 8:25 and school dismisses at 3:45.
If you are interested, you will need to attend a training session. The training session will take approximately 30 minutes. You will have the opportunity to provide your availability on the signup form below. Of course, we want to ensure the safety and security of all our children, therefore an important component of this is that all of our volunteers go through a background check. The cost of this is $12. *All background check forms need to be filled out each year, but you only need to pay every two years.
**You must attend a training session and complete a background check before participating in the program! If you were a Tiger Buddy last year, you DO need to attend a training again this year. It is my hope that you will be paired with the same student who you were a Tiger Buddy with last year.
